Find out How to Get Involved

The BC Tomorrow simulator is an educational tool that helps you to understand the process of sustainable planning to balance land-uses such as agriculture, oil and gas and forestry with ecological integrity. By looking at past and present landscape imagery, you will be able to see changes that have taken place in the past. You can also collect, geotag and save water sampling data, images, video and other observations.

Now set some goals and design a future for British Columbia that you want to see!

The simulator in action:

  • See the current landscape in 30+ areas in British Columbia
  • Draw your own plan for British Columbia and see the potential outcomes!

BC Tomorrow is a watershed based, interactive three-part educational program based on Alberta Tomorrow. Alberta Tomorrow was originally created in 2005 by Matthew Carlson and Dr. Brad Stelfox of the ALCES group. Since then, Alberta Tomorrow has been used extensively by teachers and students in that province.

Alberta and BC Tomorrow are critically reviewed and bias neutral. The continued development has been overseen by a steering committee comprised of representatives from industry, non-profits and government. The application is:

  • peer reviewed by qualified scientists,
  • endorsed by environmentally focused non-profit organizations, industry and government, and
  • teacher tested!

Dave Ramsay is an experienced BC Science educator. While developing Watershed sustainability curriculum, in 2013 he and cofounder Barry Wilson met and began developing BC Tomorrow.  In collaboration with Alberta Tomorrow and supported by BC Tomorrow’s Board of Directors, educators, business, government, other non-profit organizations, and the community, Dave and Barry have been working to make BC Tomorrow available to educators, educational organizations and the general public throughout the province of BC.

The BC Tomorrow program is a registered charity in Canada. BC Tomorrow's board of directors is served by representatives from education, non-profit, government and industry.

The BC Tomorrow Society is a 100% non-profit organization

a Registered Non-Profit Society in BC with Canada Revenue Agency Charitable Status, dedicated to promoting sustainable land-use planning in BC
